Maloof Low Back Chair

This was my second Maloof recreation. I had first delved into sculptural work through a class aimed at producing Maloof's rocker. I completed the two week program with a good understanding of the techniques and joints, but wanted to continue my learning by undertaking a similar project alone.

I have admired Sam Maloof low back chairs ever since I first glimpsed one in a photo. After visiting his shop and museum I felt compelled to recreate it. This was the first example of this design I built. I later undertook a settee as well. Much was learned in the process, but I do not anticipate doing any more recreations
